20 sales books you should read during your sales career

We are often asked by sales people if we can recommend a sales book to help them to increase their learning, over the next few weeks myself and Bo will be sharing our top 10 sales books that sales people should read (and keep reading) during their sales career, we have compiled a list of 20 of our favourite sales books we have read and books that have had an influence on our selling, the list is not ranked in any order of preference or popularity as we feel they have all been beneficial in their own way in our careers.

I'm going to start of the list with my first 5

The first book on the list is a classic that every sales person should read and that's

# 1 How to win friends and influence people - Dale Carnegie

One of the all time classic sales books and one of first sales books I read starting out in   sales, originally published in 1937 this book is a must for any sales person as it tackles the hugely important subject of people, all of the great sales people you encounter in life will have read this book and would have been influenced by it, if you want to understand how to build great rapport and stronger business relationships this is a great book.

# 2 The Psychology of Selling - Brian Tracy

Brian Tracy has many books available but this is one of his best.  It sets out ideas, methods, strategies & techniques in an easy read.  What I paticularly like about this book is that it encourages you to go out and try what its teaching.  Brian claims that "many salespeople have become millionaires as a result of listening to and applying his ideas" so it could be the most worthwhile read of your life!

# 3 The Platinum Rule - Discover the Four Basics Business Personalities - Anthony Alessandra

A highly entertaining book that helps you to understand why some people are a joy to deal with whilst others might be considered alittle more difficult to deal with.  The good news is it will also teach you how to recognise who is who and how to treat them as they want to be treated.  In short, this book will tell you how people tick and how to talk their language back.

# 4 Sales Bible - The Ultimate Sales Resource - Jeffrey Gitomer

This book has been on the top 10 recommended reading list of Dale Carnegie's Sales Advantage Program (Dale is the author of our first recommended book) and has to date been read by countless people.  Jeffrey has an engaging and ease to read style that makes this book a great way to pick up valuable tips on how to sell in any economic environment, top down selling, filling the sales pipeline with people ready to buy and using the right questions.
